We are situated on the Southern shores of Lake Malawi 10 km from Mangochi, going North to Monkey Bay. Lake Malawi known as the ‘calendar lake’ for its dimensions, approximately 365 miles north to south and 52 miles broad. It is the third largest fresh water lake in Africa, and the Southernmost Lake in the Great Rift Valley system of East Africa.
The Lake shores are lined with small, sleepy fishing villages. Its rich fish harvest, means that the Lake plays an important part in the economy. ‘Lake of Stars’ named by David Livingstone because of the lights from the lanterns of the fishermen on their boats, that resemble, from a distance, stars in the sky.
Lake Malawi is home to over 500 different species of endemic cichlids which can be seen around almost any rock along the edges of the Lake. The clear and calm waters are perfect for water activities, swimming, diving and snorkeling.
