Jules is a lawyer, writer and charity fundraiser based in the UK. In December 2010, having recently suffered a personal tragedy, she took time out from a demanding legal career to volunteer in Malawi. A month spent amongst some of the country’s poorest and most vulnerable children led to further trips to Africa’s ‘Warm Heart’ and a passionate desire to help.
Since then, with the help of friends and colleagues, she has raised many thousands of pounds and already financed the erection of a security gate and renovation of volunteer accommodation at Bolera Palms, as well as providing books, a rocket stove and funding to other schools and individuals in Malawi to help improve education.
She believes wholeheartedly that enabling children to have a good education gives them opportunities and is determined to continue working with her friends in Malawi to ensure that as many children as possible benefit from such an education.
Nick von Christierson
Nick is a South African living in London who works in finance. Nick first visited Malawi in December 2010 as a volunteer for a charity in the Mangochi region. He subsequently fell in love with not only the Malawians’ smiles but also their hearts. As a result, he and Julia Mutlow founded their own charity.
Nick has raised many thousands of pounds and already financed the erection of a security gate, the renovation of volunteer accommodation and the purchasing of a minibus, as well as providing books, a rocket stove and funding to other schools and individuals in Malawi to help improve education.
Nick’s passion for education stems from his own family’s endeavors in charity work in Africa and Eastern Europe. He hopes that his love and dedication towards education in Africa, and in particular Malawi, will empower one person at a time and give them the freedom of choice.
